10 Years and Counting – Let’s Make Memories Together at Lucali Miami Beach

The OG of New York namesakes in Miami celebrates a decade of pizza in Sunset Harbour

The rise of NY-based restaurants and hospitality groups have made their mark in Miami territory as of late, but before the Big City took over the Magic City, the Brooklyn-born pizzeria, Lucali became the first New York transplant to settle its roots in Miami. Since opening its doors in 2013, Lucali Miami Beach has become a beloved institution in the Miami food scene, offering authentic Italian pies and calzones in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Lucali emits an inviting rustic charm – from the exposed brick walls and wooden tables to the escaping aroma of freshly baked pizza dough that comes from the wood-burning oven and is recognizable throughout all of Sunset Harbour.

Back in 2006, Lucali opened its first location in the neighborhood of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, N.Y., where owner Mark Iacono transformed a local candy shop into the landmark that is known today as one of the most sought-after pizzerias in the city. After years of visiting Miami, Iacono grew a love for the city and chose to make Miami Beach the first destination he would expand to.

At Lucali, the focus is on simple, high-quality ingredients and traditional methods of preparation. The menu is limited to a few pizza and calzone options, alongside classic items like homemade meatballs and eggplant parm, but always made to order with the freshest ingredients. Dough rolled out using empty wine bottles is just one of the contributing factors to Lucali’s appeal – a method that has since been adopted by pizza locations across the nation.

Similar to its Brooklyn outpost, Lucali Miami Beach does not take reservations and operates on a first-come, first-serve basis but no need to arrive 2 hours early here. Local pizza lovers are able to indulge in these perfect pies with little wait time, certain to make any native New Yorker jealous.

Blessed with a successful 10 years in the Magic City, Iacono looks forward to expanding Lucali into additional markets in the future. Lucali Miami is located at 1930 Bay Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information on Lucali, visit
