On March 8, the restaurant’s wine selections will highlight some of the best female natural winemakers in the world – from Arianna Occhipinti to Athénaïs de Béru. Women always occupy a place of honor at The Betsy; and on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 the Lobby Bar’s popular Happy Hour will start an hour earlier and run from 4 PM to 7 PM. During that time women can order a glass of Bodegas Borsao rosé with a homemade chocolate truffle for $7 at the bar and lounge. In the restaurant, a special dessert in honor of International Women’s Day from the hotel’s pastry chef, Gabriela Amelunge is on offer: chocolate truffle mousse cake at $11/slice. Additionally, two celebrated woman musicians will perform as part of The Betsy’s ongoing live jazz series, Live at The Betsy. On Friday, March 7, starting at 7 PM, guests can enjoy a performance from Carole Ann Taylor, a jazz stylist with roots in leadership legacy. Her ties to the Betsy date back to its Betsy Ross roots in 1972, when she attended the Democratic National Convention as part of NOW (National Organization for Women) which was housed at the historic hotel. Toro Toro will be celebrating the ladies on International Women’s Day during the restaurant’s decadent Sunday Brunch. The bottomless brunch, which features unlimited Mimosas and Bloody Marys as well as a generous assortment of food, will have a specialty dessert display honoring women. Additionally, all-female guests brunching at Toro Toro on Sunday, March 8 will receive a celebratory purple macaron. Brunch is priced at $55 per person and is served from 11:30 AM until 3 PM.
