Miami’s premier downtown luxury hotel InterContinental Miami draws visitors and local guests year-round with stellar dining and drinking experiences at Toro Toro, as well as a robust schedule of activations, promotions, and events. Now the property is embracing its inner hipster with the opening of Freddys Speakeasy, a secret hideaway accessible only by prior arrangement. Beginning Thursday, August 25, 2022, and every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday after that, guests can step into the Prohibition Era with the cocktail club’s intimate atmosphere, historic ambiance, and meticulously crafted libations.

Named for famed 19th-century Polish composer and virtuoso pianist Frédéric François Chopin – whose name adorns both the street the hotel is located on and one of its ballrooms – the lounge will offer Prohibition-era inspired cocktails crafted with herbs, house-made bitters, and freshly pressed juices, in a cozy secret space that can accommodate up to 12 people.
With design elements that reflect the era, including vintage furnishings, plush seating, and a dazzling candlelit bar, Freddys blends 1920s decor with a modern vibe to create an elevated in-the-know setting. Upon reserving the experience, guests will be given instructions on accessing Freddys and escorted to the hidden location, where a secret knock will ensure admission.
Once within, guests are welcomed with a taste of Four Ballads, made with Casa Noble infused with cilantro, Cointreau, fresh lime, and simple syrup. Signature cocktails, beginning at $18, include the Green Light made with a rich, sweet, and smoky, decadent blend of Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, chocolate bitters, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup; Not Your Mama’s Mamajuana, a unique take on the island of Hispaniola’s fabled drink featuring 1888 Brugal Dominican Rum infused with InterContinental Miami’s herb blend; Envied Elegance featuring Tito’s Vodka, Domaine de Canton, lime, cucumber essence, and peach bitters and topped with Peychaud’s bitters; Virtue & Vice, a smooth and pleasantly spice blend of Woodford Rye, lemon juice, Aperol and simple syrup; and Tipsy Whisper featuring Casa Noble, Cointreau, lime juice and lavender reduction. In addition, an exclusive house-made Makers Mark Cask Cocktail infused with Italian liquor and Heering Cherry liqueur. The cocktail, aged six weeks in a barrel, is not yet available but will surely be worth the wait.
